Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Uses IPitomy to Resolve Issues

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe located in northern NY; along the beautiful St. Lawrence River recently completed an upgrade of their phone system to streamline business and services by installing an IP phone system with the help of the Broadband Initiative Program.

The Broadband Initiative Program is a federally funded program to expand high speed internet across the Saint Regis Mohawk Community and other rural parts of the country.

The need
The administrative offices of Saint Regis Mohawk tribe needed to connect their remote offices together and reduce the total number of phone lines that they were paying for and not utilizing efficiently. The local telephone vendor for the community was unreliable and slow to respond when service was needed. On more than one occasion the entire community was out of phone line service for more than a day effecting emergency communication and response times.

The Solution
IPitomy's IPPBX server allowed the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe to connect their remote offices together utilizing the Broadband Initiative fiber backbone and to reduce the cost of phone calls by using SIP trunks in place of standard phone lines. The Broadband Initiative created their own central office to provide the SIP trunks for their voice communication.
